Subscribe!
I have a lot of family and friends who still aren't sure what the deal is with RSS or "Feeds". Along with others I've tried to explain it, but somehow it doesn't always click.
Let me give you my bottom line:
- You are too busy to visit my website.
- You don't want to be frustrated when I don't have anything new posted.
- Subscribing will solve both of those problems.
There are two major ways to subscribe.
First, the option we're all familiar with is email. You can put your email in the box on the right side of my blog. The downside here is you have to confirm your email subscription with a link that appears in your inbox. Hopefully, your spam filter won't catch it and hide it from you.
Second, the option we should all become familiar with. Look for the orange button
on the right hand side. Click it. You will be directed to a page where you can select the service or program with which you want to subscribe. Pick one that you already check daily. I personally like to use Internet Explorer 7.0's "Feeds" which work like "Favorites" but become bold when new content exists. So I would select "View Feed XML", but you might like to use a Google Home Page or some other service. Chances are you're web browser has a similar button that appears or lights up when the page you are viewing has a "feed" to which you can subscribe. By doing this you can keep up with more people in less time each day. There are people I love who blog about once per month. I wouldn't know about it unless I had subscribed to their feed.
Ok, for some of you this was WAY redundant. For others, I hope you followed this enough so that I can keep you engaged in my content without having to cause you to visit this website.
If you like me so much you are willing to visit my blog site daily even when there's nothing new to read, I'll take that as a compliment!
Hey Welcome Back!
Do you mind if I link this on my blog, for those who might want to link this to mine. I had planned on linking someones explantion months ago , but never did. If you prefer not to have that link to mine. No problem.
Thanks
Guy

Sure thing, go for it, but since I'm using typepad now I added my site to feedburner then added two feedburner "widgets" to make subscribing easier and to give me better statistics. It might be good to set up yours in a similar fashion. My post talks about email subscription which is an extra service you setup with feedburner (or someone else). So, it could be confusing to folks if we don't enable that for your blog as well.
Later,
Kevin

Just because you keep asking, I guess I should tell you I subscribed the day you went live, or very close to it. Yup -- I'm a subscriber.
